Late Archaic 5000 - 3000 B.P. Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Wisconsin wing banners have the widest distribution of any style. The material chosen by the maker can vary greatly as in this example. This dark black quartz contains several bits of ruby red quartz inclusion, adding to its mysterious origin. One side of the barrel is nicely fluted.
