Archaic 7000 - 6000 B.P. Porphyritic granite. Colorful phenocrysts float within the matrix of this granite material. This axe has a very nice “feel” because the high silica content of the stone allowed the ancient maker to develop an incredible “finish”. Bit is nicely polished and symmetrical, but shows general wear.
