Mid to late Archaic 7500-3000 B.P.Buzzard roost site, Perry County, IndianaAn elegantly made Bannerstone, with the classic curved "saddleback" face, terminating in protruding "knobs" that are the beginning of the Banner style that eventually became the hooked style. Made of a beautiful granite which is composed of candy-like chunks of yellow, brown, cream and black within the matrix. Two small patches have been made to this banner, which can be easily seen in the photos. One is a tiny patch on the saddleface ridge, near the top. The other is located along the top edge, and appears as a small dark yellow patch. Two light scrapes can be seen across the back of the Banner.
