Unfortunately, this large and impressive piece did not start out as a figural napkin ring. Marked "Derby Silver Co., No. 3520", it can be found in the 1883 Derby catalogue. Where the napkin holder is located on this piece should be a card receiver in the shape of an artist's palette with brushes, which would extend to the man's coat. Solder marks can be seen on the coat where the brushes were once attached. Because of the alteration, condition must be listed as just fair. The second napkin ring in the lot is another large and impressive piece. It depicts a goat pulling a wheeled chariot that carries a napkin holder. There is questionable solder where the napkin holder attaches in the back. It is marked "E.G. Webster & Bro, No. 6". If right, this piece is magnificent. The last napkin ring has a man sitting on a wheeled carriage with reins to a horse. Behind the man and atop the carriage rests the napkin holder, which has pierced edges. The piece is marked "Meriden B. Company" on the underside of the man's seat. There are a few black spots, but all of the solder looks good.

Condition: (Fair - Good).

Item Dimensions: Largest : 6" L.
