Serial No. 181380. Manufactured in 1860. Standard features include a 6" octagon barrel, .31 caliber percussion, five shot, varnished walnut grips, case hardened frame, silver plated brass trigger guard and backstrap of which approximately 40% remains. All matching numbers including wedge, except loading lever is numbered 2861. The backstrap is engraved "Henry Simmons from his Father". The barrel is a pleasing blue-plum patina as is cylinder. Retains virtually all of the visible cylinder scene. Frame colors have plummed out. Excellent original grips retain 70% original varnish. Perfect action. Strong rifled bore with some minor frosting. While there may have been several soldiers bearing this name, with nothing further to go on other than this inscription, we offer the following: Enlisted on 12/31/1863 at Richland, NY as a Private. On 1/5/1864 he mustered into "K" Co. NY 50th Engineers He was Mustered Out on 6/13/1865 at Fort Barry, VA. Lovely presentation Civil War revolver that obviously saw service.
