According to factory records, this rifle left the factory on August 1, 1906 as a half octagon barrel with checkered stock, pistol grip, half magazine, shotgun rubber butt, plain trigger, take down with nickel steel barrel in 32-40 caliber. Length of barrel was not listed which usually means standard 26” and the gun now sports a 21” barrel so it was cut down 5”. In addition, the entire gun was finely refinished and retains all of that finish. This rifle also has the Slidin Lyman Model 21 peep sight along with a folding globe front and a single folding full buckhorn rear sight, none of which is mentioned in the letter. The gun is now equipped with double set triggers while letter lists trigger as plain. Gun shows in as new condition and with a fairly sharp bore with a bit of frosting. Handsome and functional, a perfect deep woods gun that should shoot as good as it looks. Modern but C&R eligible.
