Serial No. 73090. This rifle, manufactured in 1881, features a cut down octagon barrel that measures 20-1/4" inches, full magazine, gun smith applied barrel band. The receiver was a carbine receiver and has the plugged holes. It is chambered for the popular .44 Winchester caliber. Metal is basically a smooth brown patina with flashes of blue in the recesses. The wood does not appear to have ever been refinished, is in excellent condition and proud to the metal. Fully operational with a fine bore that has strong rifling and minor pitting. Should make a fine shooter.
CUT-DOWN WINCHESTER MODEL 1873 RIFLE.
