Rochester N.Y. Billinghurst type “Pill Lock” Rifle. Operated from 1835-1850 and under his patents, his revolving rifles were made by others. Estimated production of J&J guns is a few hundred. Pill box ignition, browned metal, walnut stocks, 7-shot early revolving rifle in 46 caliber. Excellent bore. Un-touched and solid original condition. Metal is a smooth patina. Superb and highly figured half stock with pewter tip. Original rod but missing one barrel retainer in front. Highly desirable early maker and one of the true American pioneers in revolving rifles.
