Serial No. 203403. Manufactured in 1901. It is a 4-3/4” 38-40. The deep relief engraving has obscured the caliber markings except the WCF. The top barrel stamps are also no longer present. On the frame, the patent dates are there but missing the Colt in the circle. All visible numbers match. The gun retains all of the re-applied nickel finish and sports a gold washed cylinder, ejector housing and hammer. The grips are a nicely fitted set of Pearl-lite’s. Strong rifling with some minor corrosion in grooves. Operation is smooth and locks up tight. Quite a bit of panache. Modern but C&R eligible. Includes bohlin & silver holster. Once belonged to Gene Autry, which was a gift to a friend of his back in the 1950's. Gun comes housed in an ornate leather and silver inlaid buscadero rig. The cartridge loops ill accept .44 caliber bullets but are currently filled with .38 caliber blanks.CORRECTION: There isn't provenance to support story of Gene Autry. It is attribution only. Holster is maker stamped, not signed.
