Serial No. 90984. All matching, including wedge. This revolver is standard in all respect sporting a 5” barrel. The condition is wonderful. The barrel retains at least 75% of the original Colt blue finish. The cylinder retains 30-40% of the thinning blue with a perfect cylinder scene. Most of the case colors have darkened. The grip strap and back strap retain about 50% of the original silver plating. The bore is mint and the gun operates as it did when new. Set into the beautiful varnished walnut grips is a silver plaque that reads “Testimonial Presented to Lieutenant Nathan Spering by the Citizens and Police of the 12th Ward January 1855”. Accessories include Colt marked two cavity bullet mold, small Colt eagle flask, fire blue tool, Colts cap tin and some old round balls. Gun was made in 1854. Lt. Spering was from Pennsylvania and fought during the Civil War in Mann’s Independent company as part of the Pennsylvania Infantry Militia. Further investigation as to Mann’s Militia battle history should prove interesting.
