Serial No. 2385. This has to be one of the finer existing First Model US Schofield revolvers in the hobby. It has matching numbers on frame and cylinder. All standard US features with 7” barrel. It has the US stamped on butt and LP inspector marks stamped under barrel lug. It is as issued with all the proper parts as expected on an early first model. Cartouche on left grip panel visible but light. Now as to condition, the entire gun retains at least 80% of the high polish original blue finish on the frame. The barrel retains approximately 50% finish, bright in hidden areas and a pleasing blue plum on balance with no corrosion, pits or blemishes anywhere on this immaculate gun. The cylinder is a smooth brown/blue patina. The hammer and trigger guard still have traces of the original case colors. The original oil finished walnut stocks are excellent. Gun locks up and indexes like a vault. Bore is near mint and shiny. All factory stamps are perfect. Accompanying this fine revolver is the entire complete rig, all proper, and includes the holster, belt, two sword hangers and rare canvas cartridge holder. Less than 3050 of these revolvers were manufactured only in 1875. They are chambered for the .45 S&W caliber. Most saw hard use and it will probably be a long time before you see another First model in such fine all original untouched condition let alone with a complete and rare military cavalry rig.
