Serial No. 14699. Manufactured in 1885. Really fine condition Model 1878 Colt double action revolver with the scarce Colt Frontier Six Shooter etched panel. It is a standard gun with factory nickel finish, 7 ½” barrel in 44-40 caliber with a set of vintage real Ivory grips. The gun retains at least 85% factory original nickel finish and the balance has turned a smooth grey metal patina blending nicely with the nickel. The grips are excellent and fit fairly well with some shrinking and great color. Lanyard ring has been removed. Bore is mint as is the action. The fine and fragile etched panel is as nice and bold as one could expect to find and has never been messed with or enhanced in any manner. Before these guns were actively collected, a lot of these etched panel barrels found their way onto the much more common SAA and as such, a surviving etched panel that remains in such fine condition is a true rarity and given the hard use that most of these saw on the western frontier, this one is a gem. Comes with Colt factory letter.
