Serial No. 497333. This is an interesting 1911 in that it was manufactured in 1918 for use in the first World War. It retains most of the World War I era parts, such as the diamond checkered grips, long wide spur checkered hammer, .45 ACP, U-notch rear sight, checkered safety, magazine release. Left side of frame is stamped "United State Property" This gun was later shipped to England as evidenced by all of the British proof and acceptance marks on the barrel, frame, and slide. The BNP mark began in 1954 which would explain the short checkered trigger, the serrated mainspring housing, and the serrated slide stop. The gun was refinished at that time, and retains approximately 95% of the reapplied blue with some rust freckling (minor) on left side of slide. The magazine assembly is stamped R.I.A. as is the right side of the frame. Grips are excellent. Bore is excellent. Action perfect. It is amazing that this gun saw use in two American wars and found its way to England for further usage.
