Serial No. 4789. This is an example of a very scarce pre-war 1904 Model Large Nambu pistol. Commonly referred to as a Papa Nambu, these pistols were a continuation of the earlier Grandpa versions of the Nambu pistols and are properly without provisions for a shoulder stock. Approximately 7,100 were produced before production changed to the later standard Type 14 model. This pistol was produced under an Army contract and so marked with the Kanji characters on the left side of the frame. The top of the receiver has the proof and the right side of the frame has the Kanji model marking over the serial number. Adjustable tangent rear sight on top of the receiver calibrated from 100-500 meters, fixed inverted "V" front sight, and the grip safety on the front of the grip strap. Magazine is marked 4402. The gun retains approximately 80% dull military blue turning soft patina with some high edge wear. Very good grips showing some wear to checkering. Straw colors on trigger. Strong clean bore. Perfect action. Comes with a reproduction holster.
