This rifle is featured on page 154 in the book "Military Rifles of Japan". This is the highest serial number listed in that book at 2076. Caliber 7.7mm. Barrel is 26-9/16". Stamped with the Naval anchor and characters that signify "Special Type 99". It has a one-piece butt stock, cylindrical shaped bolt knob, cupped edge casting on butt plate. Metal finish is painted black enamel. All manufactured at the Yokosuka Naval Arsenal. Most major parts of this rifle are cast iron. It has the Tokyo Chief Inspectors stamp. Dated 1945. All metal parts are brown patina with some spottiness, having lost most of the original black paint. Very good all original stock (rare in one piece). Excellent bore and action. Very rare never seen Japanese World War II navy rifle.
