M1 that comes with mounting (T3 mount) for an early active (infrared) night vision sight. About 3,000 produced. Three versions of night sight (M1, M2, M3) This carbine was manufactured in 1943. The barrel is stamped "Underwood 8-43" with the ordinance bomb and it is a standard carbine in all respects except for the additions that make it into a copy of an M2 M3 sniper rifle without the select fire system and the rear sight has been removed and a one piece scope base numbered 8247-39-1 has been added in its stead. In addition, a muzzle flash suppressor has been added to barrel. The entire cased infra red scope kit comes with this rifle in original US marked case, all needed original devices to connect and power the scope, etc. Stock has a "U" cartouche on left side. ME-1. Bore is shiny and clean. Comes with a GI sling and a blued ten round magazine. The wood has some usual bumps and bruises. These sniper carbines saw heavy service in the Pacific campaign. This rifle was arsenal redone for Korea as most were. Arsenal refurbished, the carbine itself retains 95% of its parkerized finish with minor wear and thinning only on the exposed section of the barrel and the top of the bolt from cycling the action. The stock and hand guard are both in excellent condition with only minor handling marks in a couple of places with a nice matching dark brown color on the hand guard and stock. The infrared scope and collector retains 90% of the original black coated finish overall with minor edge and high spot wear in places. The lens is crack free however the scope has not been tested. The power pack and battery both retains most of their original black painted finish. The green storage case retains almost all of its original green painted finish with usual wear and scuffing on the edges and corners from normal use and handling. The markings on top are clear and complete. A very nice example of a Korean War era M3 type Infrared sniper rig.
