These rifles were manufactured by the Providence Tool Company in Providence, Rhode Island from 1866 to 1871. Features include a 33" barrel, full stock, two barrel bands with swing swivels, military rear sight. This example is stamped with a crown over a V proof. Caliber is not marked, but most likely a .43 Spanish. Overall the rifle is in extra fine condition retaining approximately 90% of the color case hardening on the receiver. The barrel finish as well as the bands retains approximately 90% original blue starting to plum. The screws retain most of their original fire blue. The stocks are excellent, having never been refinished with a raised grain and a perfect cartouche on the left side. Excellent bore. Perfect action. This rifle has seen little use.
FINE PEABODY FULL LENGTH RIFLE.
