Serial No. 3793. Manufactured 1861. This is a beautiful and rare Civil War era revolver. Features a standard 8" round barrel, has the scarce long flute cylinder with the patent date, Colt's patent on left frame, original army size varnished walnut grips. All matching numbers including wedge. The amazing thing about this gun is that it exhibits 85% original vintage nickel finish with fire blued screws. It is cut for shoulder stock. Has inspector mark "L" on trigger guard. It is clearly evident that this gun is nickel plated by the dealer at the time of sale as the factory letter states it was commercially shipped (not government contract) as a blued revolver. The varnished grips are excellent and retain 85% of their original finish. The cylinder does not index (simple fix). Strong bore with some light abrasions. This revolver is doubly rare given the long flutes and dealer applied nickel finish and is the only example we are aware of. Comes with a Colt Factory letter. Beautiful first year Civil War era civilian revolver.
