This large frame dragoon-size pepperbox, manufactured by Allen and Thurber in the Worcester era (1847 - 1865). This is an early transitional style with the dog leg handle features of the Norwich production. Fairly standard features 5" barrel, 36 caliber percussion with the wide flat barrel ribs, hand engraved nipple shield, and trigger guard without spur. It is in overall very good condition, with fine stampings, excellent stocks, and metal in an overall light brown patina. Cylinder indexes perfectly, double action. All but one of the nipples is missing.
