Serial No. 254382. This is a standard World War 1 Army Colt .45 automatic manufactured in 1918. Often referred to as the "Black Army" it was produced in large numbers for the American involvement during the first World War. This pistol is all original with the "J.M." inspector mark on frame. It has all the standard 1911 features with the wide spur hammer and checkered slide stop and safety, along with smooth flat mainspring housing, and walnut diamond checkered grips. Other features include the long pull smooth trigger, and a checkered magazine release. Magazine is a modern replacement. Barrel appears contemporary to the gun, but was not taken apart for marking identification. Bore is near mint. Gun functions perfectly. Condition is basically a grey-brown patina with some freckling and traces of original blue finish in protected areas.
