Serial No. 265224. This Colt single action army was shipped from the factory on April 8th, 1905 to San Francisco, California as a blued, 4-3/4", .41 long Colt (copy of factory letter). In addition to the factory letter is a booklet (provenance) from the family of Captain William C. Dickman (1892-1945). Captain Dickman was a member of the San Antonio Police Department motorcycle squad. In addition to the family letters there is an original period photograph of him in his police uniform. He was named captain of the motorcycle division in 1920 and also served in World War I in France. The revolver is standard in all respects (matches letter) and shows no special presentation engraving. It is basically a gun metal grey gun, having been cleaned at one time, the markings are sharp. All matching numbers. Original grips are excellent, but worn. Has all four clicks and indexes properly. Bore is very good. Comes in an original tooled holster with no makers marks. Stamped in gold on the loops as follows "Capt. W. C. Dickman San Antonio" (in gold). The inside of the skirt is stamped "MP" for motorcycle police. Nice Texas related pre-war Colt single action with great family history.
