This is an interesting colt revolver with history. It is housed in a custom vintage oak case with red velvet lining. A rare and valuable J.S. Colins & Co. Cheyenne WY. Double loop holster intact in the box. In it rests a colt D.A. 38 Army double action revolver. Serial No. 256508. According to the colt book, this gun was mfg. in 1906. It is a standard revolver with a 4 - 1/2" barrel, chambered for the 38 long colt. Double action, blued finish. Colt logo with rubber grips. Old museum tag hangs from the trigger guard no. 360. The gun has 20-40% of the original blue finish, but has numerous areas of fine surface rust and some pitting. The right grip is chipped. Action indexes perfectly. Historical documentation comes in form of a letter from Topeka, KS, to Mr. John Veenschoten, of Erie PA, of which is listed as the second delivery before Christmas, page 3, dated August 30th, 1934 typed receipt for this weapon. There is no ID on the gun, but W.F. Cody is crudely cut at the throat of the holster.
