Serial No. 9662. Often called the double date. This gun was originally made in 1918 for the First World War and is so dated on top strap. It was manufactured at the DWM plant. The Treaty of Versailles was signed on June 28, 1919 ending the war between the Germans and the Allied forces. As a result, the existing arms in German were restricted in numbers and issue. A pre determined amount of existing weapons were then refinished and re-stamped with the 1920 date and issued to police and other organizations for civil protection. These double dates therefore have a pretty storied history in that they saw service in the Great War and were then re-commissioned to a peace time role. This is standard double date all the way, refinished and re-stamped in 1920. It has all matching numbers and is all original as refinished in 1920 and retains at least 90% of that finish with typical holster wear on left side plate, end of muzzle and front grip strap. Original checkered walnut stocks and wood bottom clip/magazine. It is chambered in the famous 9mm round. Nice sharp bore and action. Our thanks to Mister Luger for completely disassembling each Luger in this collection for internal inspection.
