Cornish, New Hampshire. Bottom of barrel is stamped G.H Nuie, and also stamped Hitchcock & Muzzy. This is an interesting early 1840s under hammer percussion single shot rifle. The bore measures .42 cal. Fine rifling. Features a 23 -1/2" full octagon barrel. Has a full buckhorn sporting rear sight. False muzzle. Original cleaning rod. Excellent walnut stock with no chips or cracks. All the metal is a clean brown patina. Barrel No. 1462. Fine working condition. Includes a more modern handmade case. Stock has an inlay of a running dog.
