James C. Veatch served as a Union general during the American Civil War, fighting primarily in the Western Theater. He rose to command of a division of infantry and fought in several important battles. US patriotic sword made by “PDL”. Sword has an etched blade, US motif, silver handle, ornate patriotic themed hilt and hand guard. Scabbard has brass overlays “Presented to Col. James Clifford Veatch 25 Indiana Infantry 1862 from his fellow officers”. Veatch fought at the Battle of Shiloh.
