Manufactured by Collins & Company Hartford 1862. The sword has an ornate brass hilt and hand guard. Etched blade turning patina. Steel scabbard has overlay civil war motif with a George Washington bust and a silver inlaid plaque that reads as follows “presented to Capt. Alexander Bobb by his friends and shipmates as token of esteem for him as a man and a soldier, August 1862.” Alexander Bobb fought in the United States Civil War for the Union. He was listed as being from Pennsylvania. He was in the 95th Pennsylvania Infantry.
