US style sword, patriotic motif hilt, wrapped shark skin handle. Beautifully etched blade, dated January 5th 1897. Blade and scabbard both engraved with his name. Blade is near mint. Excellent scabbaaard. Further research into his military career could yield some interesting and valuable information
