With rig tobstone A.T. Standard Colt Model 1860 Army, 44 caliber percussion with 8” round barrel. Serial number 7358 matches on every part except replaced wedge. Gun was manufactured during the firsts year of the War Between the States in 1861. As to condition, the barrel and cylinder are your basic gray/brown smooth patina. The frame is US martially marked and has had a coat of blue applied over some small visible pitting. The brass butt and trigger guard are unpolished brass and is cut for the shoulder stock. The steel back strap is period engraved as follows; A.G. Curry Tombstone, A.T. (Arizona Territory) The engraving definitely appears contemporary to the era of the gun and does not look like it was put there recently but we have no other provenance to offer. Grips are excellent but may be replacements as they are oil finished, not varnished, and have nary a nick on them. The cylinder scene is non existent except for pat. Date and serial number. Gun operates fine and lines up but cylinder does not lock into place and can be rotated by hand even when hammer is cocked. The accompanying rig is unmarked standard Civil War style with full flap black leather holster and belt with original Eagle belt buckle and sword hanger. It is in fine condition with some leather chaffing but complete with tab. A google search did not come up with any quick information on Curry (It is not Kid Curry whose real name was Logan) but further research into Tombstone records might turn something up. The very fact that this gun was given or owned by someone in Tombstone sometime after the Civil War adds some interesting Western History to the piece.
