This is an all original standard U.S. Model 1896 Saddle Ring Carbine with all proper parts chambered for the .30-40 U.S. cartridge. Features include the proper 1896 carbine handguard, the sight protector barrel band, the carbine marked rear sight, and saddle ring on left side of stock. It has a 22" barrel. The receiver is basically gun metal grey. Barrel is a lovely blue soft patina. The wood is very good having been refinished at one time, shy to metal at buttplate, and no cartouche on left side. "P" under wrist still visible. Nice example of a Spanish-American War era carbine.
