This carbine statrted off life as a standard 1859 percussion Sharps carbine. After the war it was converted to chamber the .50-70 centerfire cartridge. These saw yeoman services in the winning of the West. All metal surfaces on this gun are a dark brown patina with salt and pepper pitting. Wood is very good to excellent with a clean banner cartouche on left side. Action is perfect. Strong three-grooved rifle barrel.
