Offered is an exceptional 1884 ramrod bayonet Springfield trapdoor rifle. It is standard in all respects with a 32-5/8" barrel and chambered for the .45-70 government cartridge. The barrel and barrel bands retain virtually all of the original factory blue finish. The block and tang retain most of their brilliant case colors. Side plate is a blue-brown patina. The stock is superb with a perfect SWP 1891 cartouche on left wrist and script P underneath with some minor chipping at front of trigger guard. Top of comb is unit marked K 13. All small parts are properly inspected and U.S. stamped. Mint mirror bore. Perfect action. This fine trapdoor has seen little use.
