Scarce. Manufactured in 1931, the year before the introduction of the New Service Shooting Master. Very few standard New Service revolvers were chambered in the .38 Special cartridge. Standard features include a 6" barrel, stamped "New Service .38 Spl" on left side, has fixed sights, top of frame is matted, double action, blue finish, standard Colt logo hard rubber grips. Has the checkered trigger that is found on the Shooting Master. Barrel retains 50% of original factory blue finish. Frame retains approximately 80% original factory blue, the balance turning a soft plum. Cylinder retains approximately 60% factory blue with wear on high edges. The back strap is factory checkered like a Shooting Master. Bore and action are perfect. This gun exhibits many of the features that were to be incorporated into the Shooting Master and introduced the following year. Extremely scarce configuration.
