Offered is a scarce set of Metropolitan Arms Company Navy percussion single action revolvers (Copy of 1851 Colt). Guns are consecutive serial numbers 1190 and 1191. Both revolvers have all matching serial numbers on all parts. They are considered first model Navy's. Standard features include 7 1/2" octagon barrel, 36 caliber percussion, 6 shot round cylinder, and no markings. The first 1799 guns bear no markings other than the serial numbers. About 6,063 of these revolvers were manufactured between 1864 and 1866 by Orison Blunt. They are exact copies of the Colt 1851 Navy revolver. Both guns are in very good to excellent condition. All metal surfaces are smooth. Have brass grip straps. Both guns index, albeit, one is a little off time. Grips retain traces of original varnish. The bores on both guns are strong. This consecutive numbered set of revolvers comes in a vintage display case that includes two tins, a bullet mold, some wad scissors, a key, an empty box of skins, some projectiles, and a brass eagle original flask. Top of the case has an inscribed plaque that reads "A. Oliver from Major N.L. Finney. A.A.GA.1862." Further research into the civil war connection of either Oliver or Finney may add some interesting history to this set of extremely rare revolvers. With such a limited civil war production and being considered secondary martial revolvers, as well as the scarce consecutive numbers, it makes this an extremely desirable item for the Civil War martial collector.
