Serial number 357620 was shipped on July 12, 1948. This was one of the early post war Colt Single Action Army revolvers sent out using up old pre-war parts that were assembled and shipped after 1946. It was shipped as a 5 ½ barreled gun in .45 Colt caliber. It now sports a 4 ¾” barrel in same caliber and sports a pair of real stag grips with deep set silver Colt medallions. Barrel has the fire blue finish rather than standard finish. There is a hint of wear at end of muzzle and the cylinder retains approximately 90% of the original factory blue finish. The case colors on the hammer and frame are brilliant. The trigger guard has all the blue finish as do the screws. Grips are excellent albeit a bit larger at butt. Action is as smooth as silk and the bore remains in as new condition. Factory letter indicates further that this gun was given to Graham Anthony who was president of Colt at the time. We cannot verify as to why the barrel was changed or is different than listed on letter or as to why it has the fire blue finish instead of the standard finish nor can we explain the stag grips. We can say that the gun is absolutely stunning in both appearance and for the smoothness of the action. These pre-war post war clean up parts guns are quite scarce but given it was made for then Colt president, anything could , and was, done per order.
