This standard rifle is chambered for the .45-70 govt cartridge with a 32-58" barrel single shot. All proper inspector marks. Has ramrod bayonet. Rifle remains in excellent condition. Barrel retains 80% original factory blue blending with patina. Traces of color on block. Excellent wood with SWP 1891 cartouche. Perfect action. Very good bore, but dirty. Both side of the stock have inscriptions. Right side we can read "Fort Saratoga" and "Fort ?", left side we can read "Oct. 2", and appears to be done in some sort of wood burning or black ink. Interesting Trapdoor that dates to the Indian Wars. Really fine rifle with a soldiers personal inscriptions. This gun is actually a model 1884, not a model 1888. Please bid accordingly. CORRECTION: Length of barrel should read 32 5/8" instead of 32 58".
