Approximately 12,200 in all variations of this unusual lever action rifle were manufactured from 1873 to 1879 in Mechanic Falls, Maine but the Evans Repeating Rifle Company. They were all chambered for the .44 Evans centerfire cartridge. Standard features include a blued finish, walnut stock, and checkered fore end. This example is the new model, manufactured from 1877 to 1879. It has 28 shot magazine capacity, the most of any centerfire rifle at that time. Has a 30" full round barrel, which is scarcer than the standard octagon barrel. The rifle remains in very good all original condition. All metal surfaces are a clean mix of blue-brown patina. Walnut stocks are excellent with no cracks or mentionable chips. Very good bore. Perfect action. Far better example than most existing Evans rifles on the market. Easily the most unusual lever action sporting rifles of the Wild West era.
