This is a fine standard model 1892 saddle ring carbine manufactured in 1897.It is chambered for the .25-20 Winchester centerfire cartridge. Standard features include 20" round barrel, full magazine, carbine buttplate, gumwood stocks, standard high post front, and three leaf folding rear express sight. This is a case of a rifle that either went back to the factory or an older receiver was found in inventory. Both the barrel and frame have the post 1905 PW trademark and the gumwood stocks were not available in 1897. Tang has the stamp that was not introduced until after the 500,000 serial number range. The barrel stamp is also post-500,000 serial range. Barrel and tube retains approximately 98% original factory blue. the wood to metal fit is perfect and proud to metal. Receiver has flaked to about 70% which is typical of 1920s era carbines. Has a excellent bore. Perfect action. Unusual little carbine.
