Caliber .30-06, barrel is 22", has a ten-round magazine, post front sight with protecting ears, aperture rear sight, walnut stock. Weighs 9.5 lbs. Recoil operated semi-automatic. Two-piece walnut stock. Has the perforated steel ventilated handguard. Blue-black parkerized finish. Checkered steel buttplate with trap door. Trigger and safety catch milled steel. The two-piece receiver has Cranston Arms stamped on right side. Bolt is stamped "1500". Has a bayonet lug. Top of frame stamped "Caliber .30-06 "Johnson Automatics" Model of 1941 Made in Providence, R.I., U.S.A.". Does not have a letter pre-fix in serial number (first year production). All external metal retains virtually of the factory military finish. Walnut stock is mint. Mint bore and action. Gun is virtually as new externally. This is an excellent example of a desirable Johnson semi-automatic rifle. These rifles were developed in the late 1930s intending to compete against the M1 Garand for US military contracts. These rifles were not adopted by the US Army but were subsequently used by the USMC "Marine Raider and Parachute Battalions" in the early Makin Island, Guadalcanal and Tulagi Island hopping campaigns in the Pacific. Rifle is near mint retaining all of the original factory finish. Accompanying this rare rifle is the equally rare bayonet and frog. The bayonet retains a majority of its original parkerized finish. Frog is excellent with 3790 on back.
