Offered is a scarce special order Winchester Model 1892 eastern carbine chambered for the .38-40 Winchester centerfire cartridge. Special features include a 2/3 magazine and a checkered Winchester logo hard rubber buttplate. Standard features include a 20" round barrel, walnut stock, folding carbine ladder rear sight, and high post front. The barrel and tube retain approximately 80% original factory blue, thinning a bit on high edges, mixing with some soft patina. the frame is basically a smooth clean grey-brown patina. 80% original blue on loading gate. Walnut stocks are excellent, proud to metal, never refinished, no cracks, but a couple of minor bruises. Action works as new. Strong rifled bore with some minor corrosion. Never had saddle ring installed. All special order Model 1892 carbine are extremely scarce, and this example is chambered for the popular big bore .38-40.
