This is an early standard model Colt 1911 government model, commercial, made in 1914. It is chambered for the .45 ACP cartridge. Features all of the standard pre-World War I parts including hand checkered wide short spur hammer, long smooth trigger, straight mainspring housing, all small checkered parts, small U notch rear sight, small half moon front, diamond checkered grips, and a lanyard loop tempered original magazine. Action and bore are like new. Grips are near mint. Gun retains fully 90% of the factory high polish commercial blue with areas of high edge wear, a bit thin on top of slide and grip strap. A far above average model 1911 commercial .45. Factory letter indicates this gun was shipped on April 22nd, 1916 in a shipment of ten guns to A. Baldwin & Company in New Orleans, Louisiana.
