Manufactured in 1936, this is a standard pre-war model Colt 1911 A1 government model semi-automatic pistol chambered for the .38 Super cartridge that was introduced in 1929. Pistol remains in lovely all original untouched factory condition, retaining fully 95-97% of the original factory finish. It still retains the majority of the blue on the front grip strap and trigger guard as well. The only wear present is on the usual high edges of slide and muzzle. It has all the correct pre-war checkered small parts, as well as the near mint pre-war two-toned Colt .38 Super stamped magazine. Near mint fully checkered walnut grips. The bore in near mint and the function is flawless. These fine condition Colt .38 Super automatics are getting increasingly popular with 1911 collectors. Factory letter indicates this .38 Super 5" blued pistol was shipped on June 9th, 1936 to Shapleigh Hardware Company in St. Louis, Missouri, in a shipment of ten guns. With factory letter.
