This frame was built in 1959 as a standard .45 govt frame. The slide is a pre-70 .38 Super slide with an applied serial number on the right side of 17686. An adjustable Elliason rear sight and a high post front sight has been added. The safety and front grip strap have been stippled. Has a pair of contemporary diamond checkered walnut grips. All small parts are serrated. Has an added trigger shoe. Barrel is in the white and has no factory stamps. Features a standard 5" barrel, blued finish, and currently fires the .38 Wadcutter cartridge. The magazine is stamped "Colt .38 Special" so the gun has been altered to fire the .38 Wadcutter round. Slide retains approximately 85% original blue finish with wear. Frame retains approximately 70% original blue finish. Bore is mint. Should make a good shooting Wad gun.
