This rifle is inscribed on the buttplate "Given to Frank Tanner from Chaser Oil Co.", bottom line cannot be read. This rifle comes with a book "Time Life Old West" that has a story about Harry Sinclair and Frank Tanner which is the formation of the old Sinclair gasoline company. The engraving on the buttplate looks old and original, but we can make no garauntees as to the background of this rifle. The rifle itself is a Belgium made single shot in .30 caliber with a 30" full octagon barrel, decent rifling, fixed rear sight. Left side of the stock is inlaid with a three-dimensional pony. Right side of stock is decorated with a braid, American flag at wrist, and a wreath on the right side of stock. Stock is very good with sharp checkering but does have a crack at the wrist on the right side. Barrel is basically a blue-brown patina. Action works fine. Double set triggers. Set needs adjustment. Comes with what looks like a home-made sheath with the initials "F.T." stamped on top. Sheath does not have the age of the rifle in our opinion.
