Manufactured by the Gwyn & Campbell Arms Co. 1863 to 1864. Standard features include .52 caliber percussion, breach-loader, single shot falling block, 19" barrel, iron mountings, blued finish, walnut stock, with sling ring on left side of frame. This is considered the contract type with the serpentine lever. 1,140 of these were contracted to the Illinois Cavalry. Most of these saw heavy use during the Civil War throughout Arkansas and Mississippi. All metal is a dark brown patina with salt and pepper pitting throughout. Excellent stock with perfect cartouche on left side. Strong rifled bore (very clean). Perfect action. Approximately 8,200 manufactured.
