Approximately 5,000 of these were manufactured between 1864 and 1865. Features include .50 caliber rimfire cartridge, seven shot magazine tube in butt, .22 round barrel, iron mountings, sling swivel on buttstock. All metal is a smooth pleasing mix of dark blue-brown patina with a couple of dents on left side of frame. Original military sights. Stock has a 4" repaired crack on left side and a 3/4" crack at top of tang. Wood has been refinished and is shy to metal. Strong bore could use some cleaning. Fine action. Manufactured in Meriden, Kentucky.
