Very nice example of the Maynard single shot sporting rifle. These rifles were manufactured from the 1860s to the 1890s. Last patent date on the frame is 1859. Chambered for the .32 caliber. Often referred to as the "improved hunting and target rifle". Rifle barrel measures 28" octagon to round. Basically a gun metal grey patina. The case colors have faded to a soft grey. Pistol grip checkered walnut stock is near mint with beautiful grain and sharp checkering. Barrel is not cut for a rear sight but has a tang sight. This example is made for a cartridge, not percussion. Action works fine. Strong rifling. Rifle is accompanied by an extra shotgun barrel. Shotgun barrel is numbered 21441, is a 16 ga. and is 26". Basically a brown patina. Very good bore with some roughness.
