30,000 of these were manufactured between 1814 and 1816. They are chambered for the .69 caliber single shot ball. This model was adapted as standard on December 8th, 1812, though production did not take place until 1814. This rifle is in unusual fine condition. It is finished in the white. The breach of the barrel has the "V" and "P" proof mark with "U.S." at breach. Both the lock plate and buttplate are stamped 1812, in addition the lockplate is stamped with "U.S. Springfield" and an eagle. There is a U.S. inspector's stamp on left side. The wood is excellentan has never been refinished, and still has some raised grain. The metal parts are clean with some patina and the usual denting at beach extending 8". It has the original flintlock ignition system. Nice clean bore. Ramrod is still in place. One of the cleaner examples of this musket to be offered. This is a Type One, which constituted the first 10,000. Includes bayonet.
