Factory letter states that this business rifle was invoiced at the Bridgeport factory on March 19th, 1877 to the famous Western gun dealer John P. Lower of Denver, Colorado. It was sent with a total of five business rifles. For some reason, the letter describes a 30" full octagon double trigger rifle, while this rifle is currently a standard .45 caliber business rifle with the 28" heavy round barrel standard business rifle. The 28" heavy round barrel retains approximately 90-95% of the original factory blue, although it is dulling. It is stamped "Old Reliable Sharps Rifle Co. Bridgeport, Connecticut" and also ".45". The frame is basically gun metal color mixed with patina. Has a standard single set trigger. The wood is excellent with no cracks or chips. Standard rifle buttplate and single sling mount in rear stock. Action is perfect. Strong bore but frosted. These standard business models generally saw very heavy use and few survived in any real condition. This rifle has survived in amazingly fine condition. It is listed and sent as standard business rifle. Has to be a factory recorded error.
