Offered is a very high condition original Colt Model 1911 Commercial Model semi-automatic .45 ACP. This is a standard model with a 5" barrel, blued finish, and diamond checkered walnut grips. The serial number places the manufacture date to 1917. Given that America entered the war in 1917, the majority of the production run of Colt 1911s were earmarked for the military making the civilian models rather scarce, especially in such fine condition. The gun has all of the original parts, which includes the checkered small parts, long smooth trigger, short wide spur hammer, and two-toned lanyard loop magazine. Original barrel. There is also an "N", "S", and "P" stamped on the inside of the frame. As to finish, the slide retains fully 96% of the original high polish Colt factory blue, with just some of the usual minor high edge wear. The frame also retains approximately 95% of the original factory blue, thinning on the front grip strap. Original diamond checkered grips are in superb condition. Bore is mint. In addition, the pistol comes with an original Audley thumb release holster. This gun has been completely disassembled and examined by noted 1911 expert Eric Gustafson who has confirmed that this gun is completely original.
