According to the factory this rifle was shipped on September 12th, 1878. The only information is that it left as a rifle with a round barrel and plain trigger. The actual rifle has a 30" round barrel, perfect factory stamps, chambered for the .44-40 cartridge, thumbprint dust cover (not raised), 2x deluxe walnut checkered stocks, straight grip, and brilliant case colored frame, lever, hammer, buttplate, and nose cap. It also has a set trigger. The bore is mirror bright. Nose cap has a blued plug for a sling. Loading gate is fire blue and the screws are in the white. This special order rifle, with its mint bore and action, and as new condition on the outside, it the work of noted custom gunsmith Dave Norin. His workmanship is among the best in the United States and the gun now looks as if you walked into a sporting goods store in 1878 and ordered a brand new Winchester Deluxe Model 1873 rifle. The stock checkering pattern is in the Winchester book. The bone color case hardening is as nice as anything Winchester did in the 1870's. Has original sporting rear sight and bead front. This is an opportunity for a collector or shooter to get a brand new deluxe Winchester First Model 1873 at a fraction of what this rifle would cost if not restored. From the beautiful deep original style rust blueing to the brilliant fiery bone case colors and the satin finish checkered walnut stocks, it is a breath-taking weapon in all respects.
